CBC is preparing a second season of The Big Decision and are looking for interested companies to participate.

The show features companies from coast-to-coast that come from a variety of industries. Throughout the episode, one of Canada’s top investors visits each company, provides expert advice and in the end decides whether or not he or she will invest.

2012 Youth Ventures Program to Launch Soon!

The Youth Ventures program is a project of the CBDCs. The program will be up and running again this Summer at the Humber Community Development Corporation, commencing on April 30^th, 2012. The program targets students between the ages of 12 to 29 who want to start their business. The service is free and Youth Ventures can:

- Help create a business idea
- Provide one on one business counselling
- Help promote and advertise your business
- Provide financial training and resources
- Help develop a business plan
- Point you in the direction to become a business owner

RDC announces new funding partnership with Grenfell Campus, MUN

With over $736,000 in Provincial Government support, Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland, is working with local and national partners to develop new inventory tools to model and map forest properties in Newfoundland and Labrador in a project valued at $2.5 million. Using light detection and ranging technologies and advanced computer models, researchers will be able to measure the structure of tree stands and the quality of tree fibre. This will allow researchers to map and model fibre properties based on specific attributes including height, volume, species and biomass. The information gathered will create the basis of more efficient forest management strategies to maximize the value of the resource.

RDC is one of the funders for this project.
